Localised petrol outages can occur at individual stations when government price feeds stop reporting a grade. This tracker shows which petrol stations are out of unleaded or diesel by state — it does not indicate a national wholesale shortage or rationing.

Availability gaps vary by state and are usually concentrated in metro corridors with high station density. Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland typically show the largest absolute counts because our directory lists more stations there — check the State Breakdown section for current percentages rather than raw counts alone.

Diesel and U91 unleaded are the most commonly reported gaps because they have the highest turnover and board reporting volume. Premium grades (U95, U98) and LPG may show fewer outage signals but can still run dry locally during supply chain disruptions or peak demand.

Short-term pump gaps stem from delivery timing, terminal maintenance, extreme demand spikes, or refinery outages — not necessarily national supply failure. Australia imports a large share of refined product; shipping delays and port congestion can tighten regional availability without a nationwide crisis.

Petrol (ULP 91 and E10) remains widely available across Australia. When stations show out-of-fuel status here, it usually reflects missing board data or temporary grade exhaustion at that site — not empty pipelines nationwide.

Limited supply (orange marker) means the station reports some fuel grades but is missing at least one core grade such as U91 unleaded or diesel. The station may still have other grades available — check the marker popup for details.

Out of fuel (red marker) means no listable fuel prices were reported for that station in the latest refresh window. This can indicate a temporary outage, closed site, or delayed board update — not always a physical empty tank.

Accuracy depends on how quickly stations update their boards and how completely they report to FairFuel. We flag gaps transparently and recommend confirming at the pump. The map is an intelligence tool, not a guarantee of on-site availability.
